Welcome Home: Celebrations With Families When our soldiers came home from Iraq, their families flew in from all parts of the U.S. to greet them, hug them, kiss them. These young men are our heroes. And their families became our families. 'Twas a big family reunion when the sons and husbands came marching home. |
The homecoming party moved from the gym parking lot to the Ram Big Horn Brewery on Puget Sound in Tacoma. The Ram boasts of having the tallest bar in the United States. Fortunately for the homecoming soldiers, I'm thinking that also means the best stocked. |
A couple of days later, Tom opens the door for the ladies on their way in to The Rock: Wood Fired Pizza and Spirits. Soon he would be carrying them out. Me, I'd be carrying out thirteen plastic drink buckets left over from the party. Yep, I keep telling my sons, that's one for every grandchild we'll have. The soldiers and families had a celebratory dinner and drinks at The Rock, which also happended to be on Matt's birthday. Talk about a party. The party begins below...first at The Rock, then after-dinner drinks and dancing at the Swiss Tavern at the end of the block. By the time the party was over, it was the next day, and Cherie's birthday. Sit back and enjoy the slideshow below...either let the web page cycle through the 40 photos, (about 8 seconds per photo), or click your way through them using the buttons below. |
