Mike and Anna's California Adventure |
Mike and Anna took their first real vacation together in August, driving out to San Diego and Anaheim to see ocean, sand, dolphins, Sal, and Mickey |
Life's a Beach! | |
Top Row: Anna and Mike enjoy Coronado Beach in front of the historic Del Coronado Hotel Middle Row: Anna searches for sea shells and Mike body surfs on Mission Beach Left: Anna takes in the sun and watches the surfers on Mission Beach |
San Diego Dreaming Anna and Mike went to Coronado Island to swim and to have lunch on the bay overlooking the San Diego skyline, below.
They strolled Seaport Village on the harbor front. Water, sun, blue sky, warm breezes ... Anna could get used to living here
Lest you think they got overly excited at seeing a dolphin at Sea World, they want you to know that their clothes got wet from the water park's numerous rides |
At Night at the Ballpark
Sal and Anna enjoy the game from their seats along the 3rd base line, above Sal took Mike and Anna to a ball game one night, where the Padres played the Houston Astros. The highlight of the evening? Well, the first story they tell about the game is the streaker who ran on the field, left, in the 8th inning. Final score: Who cares? Actually, Padres 7, Astros 4

Good Food? Jawohl! | |
Sal and Anna, above left, enjoy dinner at World Famous Restaurant on Pacific Beach, where they and Mike looked in vain for the green flash at sunsetit was too hazy. But Mike and Anna also discovered a fine German restaurant on Ocean Beach, from which they kindly brought back Dad a souvenier beer glass. Prost!
Celebrating Disneyland's 50th Anniversary
Mike and Anna went to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure on the 50th anniversary of the opening of the park.
|
They visited Mickey, and Mike was so excited he called 911 on the Toon Town phone, landing himself in jail (or is that the cage on the ferris wheel?) |
Anna is all ears as she took in the wonders of the great California parks |
Smiles and smiles of sand After crossing the Colorado River and entering into southern California, the beach begins long before you hit the oceanwell, sort of. The great sand dunes suddenly surround you, and Mike and Anna jumped out of the car and onto the dunes to celebrate their first time in California together. And so began their trip ... and so ends their photo album. Ah, California!
