A Day at Apple Annie's Farm
Cherie, Mike, Anna and I spent an autumn Saturday picking apples, pears, and pumpkins at an apple orchard and neighboring farm in Wilcox, Arizona.

The October day broke to the east, with the sun approaching the ridge of the Mule Mountains and turning the early morning clouds the same color as maple leaves.

It seemed like the perfect day to do some apple and pumpkin pickin', so we jumped onto the farm tractor and headed off into Apple Annie's orchard, ready to pick and pic (note Judeen's camera at the ready).

Bountiful
Harvest

The apples were ripe and plentiful, and buckets were filled in no time with Granny Smiths, Fiji, and Delicious apples hanging heavily from the branches

The crop was so abundant, much of the season's fruit was laying on the ground, even though the trees were still loaded.

And speaking of loaded...

...Anna poses with a paid of apples seemingly poised on her head. Do Tell, is William around with his bow and arrow handy?

Pumpkins Everywhere!
White pumpkins, orange pumpkins, giant jack-o-lantern pumpkins, small pie pumpkins — the fields were loaded with them.

This was the first year we'd seen white pumpkins, which stood out starkly against the backdrop of distant mountains and darkening skies.

Mike and Anna scoured the fields looking for the perfect, plump jack-o-lantern head.

And Mike found one, shortly after striding into the pumpkin patch.
